Irish Blessed”, an original stained glass piece completed October, 2014; signed and dated

First in the Celtic Cross Series.

An early symbol of the pre-Christian Sun God, Taranis, more recent mythology claims the Celtic Cross was introduced by St.  Patrick to the first Christian converts during the time he spent in what is now Ireland.   Over time it has evolved to become an important icon representing the convergence of higher Christian values with the life-sustaining Sun as the critical pathway to spiritual and physical well-being.

This 1st in the Celtic Cross Series depicts a central cross in three dimensional form, providing the eye a sense of life, movement and flotation.  The dominant reds of the piece depict energy and strength as well as passion, desire and love, offset by the earthy brown tones of the centered cross,  offering calmness, comfort and stability to the overall impact of the piece.
